D.Willard Radcliff age 93, of Caldwell, OH passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville, OH. He was born August 10, 1926 in Caldwell a son of the late D. Willard and Gertha E. Tilton Radcliff.
He served and protected his Nation in the U.S. Army from July 25, 1945 to December 17, 1946. He worked in the grocery business with the former F&W Grocery for several years and went on to retire from the Caldwell Elementary School. He served as mayor for the Village of Caldwell for nine years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the Noble County Historical Society, having worked many years in the Log Cabin Visitors Center. He also enjoyed spending time reading.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Doris Jane Morgareidge Radcliff whom he married December 22, 1946 and who passed May 24, 1995; daughter Susan Radcliff in 2011; grandson Nicholas Michel; 2 sisters Margery Sears and Mary Radcliff; 4 brothers Frank, Ford, Charles, and Corl Radcliff.
Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter Sarah (Tim Berry) Michel of Caldwell; son David (Bobbie) Radcliff of Fort Myers, FL; 3 grandsons David T. (Debbee) Radcliff, Matthew (Anne) Radcliff, and Phillip (Angie) Michel; 5 great-grandchildren Mason Michel, Alexander Radcliff, Jaelynn Michel, Brycen Michel, and Karson Michel; special friend Sylvia Saulnier of Caldwell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Martin Radcliff officiating. Military Honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations will conclude the funeral service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Olive Cemetery next to his wife Jane.
