Wayne Brady Hayes, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning September 27, 2018, at his home. He was born June 28, 1926, in Noble Co. Ohio, a son of the late John B. and Nettie Feldner Hayes.
He served and protected his nation in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the Whigville Community Church. An avid hunter for many years, he enjoyed reading, watching FOX News and Ohio State Football and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne was a meat cutter all his life, employed at his family business, the former J.B. Hayes Meat Market in Caldwell, where he worked alongside his father and brother.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Eleanor Hayes, and his nephew, Johnny Hayes.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jolene Guiler Hayes; his daughter, LaWayne Hayes Smith (Robert) of Lowell, Ohio; his son Cameron Hayes (Vickie) of Columbus, Ohio; 7 grandchildren: Clint Hayes of Columbus, Ohio, John Smith of Maui, Hawaii, Travis Smith, Heather Hayes Stillion, Mitch Hayes and Tara Smith Bhardwaj, all of Columbus, Ohio and Jadon Smith of Marietta, Ohio; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces Patsy (Bud) Meyer of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Karen Sue Hayes of Columbus, Ohio, and nephew Jeff (Linda) Hayes of North Carolina.
Cremation will be observed, with no additional funeral services held at this time. The family would like to thank friends, neighbors, Interim Healthcare, Hospice of Guernsey and Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service for their help and friendship.
