Walter Warner Obituary

Walter Dale Warner age 68, of Caldwell, OH passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He was born June 15, 1951 in Caldwell, OH a son of the late Grant “Shorty” and Ruth Oliver Warner.

 

He was a 1969 graduate of the Shenandoah High School. He was employed for over 25 years at the Noble County O.D.O.T. Garage. He was owner and operator of the Warner Store in Summerfield and in Stafford.  He was a member of the OCSEA Chapter #8400. He was a member of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, Summerfield American Legion Post #41, and a former member of the Summerfield Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed owning horses and participating in harness racing. He could often be found feeding his favorite horse Harry or hanging out with the McDonalds Coffee Crew. He was always up for talking about sports especially if it involved his favorite teams the Indians, Yankees, or Ohio State Football.     

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers David Warner, Donald “Duck” (Linda) Warner, George “Frosty” (Linda) Warner, and James C. “Peanut” (Marilyn) Warner; sister Alice Warner; sister-in-law Melody Warner; brother-in-law Jim Leonard, and mother-in-law Melba Ann Hupp.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Debbie S. Hupp Warner whom he married January 27, 1979; daughter Karen (Larry) Brooker of Berryton, KS; grandchildren Chelsea Brooker of Columbus OH, Chasidy Brooker of Richmond, IN, and Bobby Brooker of Berryton, KS; 8 brothers Leonard "Lum" Warner of Caldwell, William "Blackie" (Linda) Warner of Summerfield, OH, Frank Warner of Summerfield, Fred (Jennifer) Warner of Galena, OH, Ronnie (Marj) Warner of Byesville, OH, Clarence (Becky) Warner of Buffalo, OH, Jerry (Mary Jo) Warner of Byesville, and Rick (Denitra) Warner of Caldwell; 2 sisters Barbara Leonard of Summerfield and Joan Yokum of Pennsylvania, and father-in-law Oliver A. Hupp of Caldwell. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

The family would like to thank the Drs. and Staff at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The Apheresis Unit located there, and the Hospice of Central Ohio for the excellent care they all offered Walter and his family.

 

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation at 7:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
