Thomas “Tom” H. Stotts Jr. age 62, of Beverly, OH passed away suddenly at 12:30 AM at his home Saturday morning, July 18, 2020. He was born February 25, 1958 in Zanesville, OH a son of the late Donna Jones Gibbons and Thomas H. Stotts Sr.
Tom attended Zanesville Schools and also Inglewood Schools in California. At 16 he worked for Willie Shoemaker one of the greatest American Jockeys at the Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, CA. He took care of his horses and even played cards with him.
Tom was a hard worker, he worked at Muskingum Iron and Metal, Kings Quarry in Zanesville, Sharon Stone Quarry, he also worked on drilling rigs for years and ran his own service drilling rig for many years. He could also be found working on the family farm.
He was an excellent painter and craftsman. He enjoyed working on his 1976 Corvette, mowing his yard, taking walks with his dogs, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He never knew a stranger, and loved spending time with his family, friends and most of all being Papaw Tommy to his two grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law Loren Wayne Carrel, and a half-sister Patty Loomis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Jane Carrel Stotts, whom he married December 11, 1976; 2 sons Jason (Amanda) Stotts of Waterford, OH and Jeremy (Jennifer) Stotts of Lowell, OH; 2 special grandchildren Charlie and Austin; sister Tina (Warren) Smith of Zanesville, OH; half-brother Jim (Monica) Gibbons of Laguna Hills, CA; mother-in-law Eileen Carrel of Coal Run, OH. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery.
