Ronald D. Schott age 74 of Zanesville, OH joined the Lord Thursday morning, July 29, 2021 at the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, OH. He was born October 15, 1946 in Canton, OH, a son of the late Paul A. and E. Geneva Archer Schott.
He was a 1965 graduate of Caldwell High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science Education from The Ohio State University in Columbus in 1969. He taught 8th grade science for 38 years at the Cambridge Jr. High School. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Zanesville. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and had a passion for Lionel trains and all things Ohio State.
Throughout his life, Ronald continuously put others before himself. He devoted his life to serving God and caring for his wife, children, grandchildren, students, family, and friends. His work as a science teacher and religious educator touched countless young lives and inspired lifelong learners. Whether it was attending and helping with his kids' school activities, quizzing his grandkids on their science homework, or helping those who needed his carpentry and household knowledge, Ronald never hesitated when it came to being of service to others. His kind and gentle nature endeared him to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Carla J. Dowling Schott whom he married August 30, 1969, and who passed away May 13, 2018.
Those left to cherish his memory are 1 daughter Stephanie (Jose) Vega of Pataskala, OH; 2 sons Matthew Aaron (Christian Iams) Schott of Worthington, OH and David James Schott of New Boston, OH; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers Richard “Dick” (Connie) Schott and Michael (Karen) Schott all of Caldwell.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, August 2, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with a Vigil Service to conclude the visitation at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1036 Belford St, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Father Wayne Morris serving as Celebrant. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
