Larry Morris Obituary

Larry C. Morris, 70, of Caldwell, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his home. He was born January 29, 1950 to the late Ernest and Nellie Margaret Layman Morris.

Larry lived his life for Jesus, family, and friends. He was born and raised in the Whiskey Run area and he was a 1968 Graduate of Shenandoah High School. He moved to Barnesville, Ohio where he was employed with the USPS and served over 20 years as a mail carrier, and went on to serve as Postmaster for Jerusalem, Beallsville, Stone Creek, and Old Washington from which he retired after serving over 40 years with the Postal Service. He never met a stranger and was a dear friend to all who knew him. He was a hard worker and decided retirement life was not for him, so he found himself employed with Chandler Funeral Home serving the community in which he lived. He had a contagious smile and a vivid sense of humor which made you love him that much more. He was a friend to all who knew him and was always found helping somebody in need.

He attended New Life Church in Caldwell. His main goal in life was to see people saved. He had a love for Jesus and Southern Gospel Music. He was always behind the scenes in promoting groups to come and sing at churches and events for many years of his life.

Larry battled numerous health issues over the last several years, but never lost sight of the joy of life. He always had a smile and a joke to tell. Even on his worst days it was never about him, but rather how everyone else was and what he could do for them. He was never afraid and always advised heaven was waiting for him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Jerry Morris and sister-in-law Ellen Morris.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years Henrietta Doudna Morris whom he married May 3, 1997; daughter Cathey Jo (Earl) Barrett of Ruskin, FL, who was his pride and joy; son Brian (Emily) Sellers of Ruskin FL; grandson Jacob Barrett of Ruskin, FL. He was blessed with bonus children who brought joy to his life Phil Doan, Christine (Mark) Abrams, and Sheila (Jim) Sholtis all of Caldwell, OH; also several bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind two very special girls whom he loved and never forgot Angie and Vangie, as well as his special Aunt Marie Despres of Bethel Park, Pa and several cousins, and many friends.
