Jerry Bever Obituary

Jerry Dwaine Bever age 78, of Caldwell, OH passed away suddenly at his home Saturday February 20, 2021. He was born April 15, 1942 in Ripley, WV a son of the late Ray Bever and Eva Bever Augenstein.

 

He served and protected his Nation in the U.S. Army. He was employed previously by Interlake Steel in Beverly, OH and went on to retire from the National Gas and Oil Corporation. He had been a fireman on the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as Fire Chief. He was a Boy Scout Leader and served on the Board of Trustees for the Caldwell Public Library.  He was intrigued and studied the Civil War for many years. He will be remembered by many as always having a cowboy hat on, a pipe in his mouth, and a cup of coffee in his hand.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather Bob Augenstein; granddaughter Molly Beth Adams; brother Larry Bever; nephew Davy Archer. He is also preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Mae Nesselroad Bever, whom he married March 18, 1966; 3 daughters Sherry (Randall) Adams of Arkansas, Lori (Bernie) Barlock of Caldwell, and Lynette (Larry) Lanning of Charlottesville, VA; 7 grandchildren Emily (Daniel) Casella, Andrew Adams, Kimberly and Kelly Barlock, Evan, Cade, and Kaylee Lanning; sister Karen (Dave) Archer of Caldwell; niece Tina (Bob) Voytko; 2 great-nieces Briann (Cole) Carter and Halie (Ryan) Slack; 2 great-nephews Cole and Logan Archer. He is also survived by several extended family members and numerous friends.

 

Cremation will be observed, a graveside service with military honors will be held March 20, 2021 at the Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville, OH. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
