James “Jim” Alan Leek Sr. age 70, of Barnesville, OH passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV. He was born October 21, 1951 in Ashland, OH a son of the late Jake Leek and Dorothy Maxine Burgess Leek Howiler.
He served and protected his nation in the US Army. He enjoyed barrel racing, bull riding, raccoon hunting, fishing, and hunting for wild mushrooms. He was a member of the Batesville American Legion Post 578 and the Barnesville VFW Post 2792.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Stephanie Lucas and a cousin Roger Leek.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Jeffrey (Alyssa) Leek of Bethesda, OH, James Alan Leek Jr. of Coventry Township, OH, and Jessica Leek of Flushing, OH; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 9 siblings John (Karen) Leek of Boston, OH, Beverly (Roger) Wade of Boston, Belva (Bill) Guthrie of Jerusalem, OH, Linda (Chuck) Palmer of Hendrysburg, OH, Larry (Lorna) Leek of Barnesville, Rusty (Terry) Leek of Sewellsville, OH, Randy Leek of Woodsfield, OH, Keith (Rhonda) Leek of Barnesville, and Kirk (Tammy) Leek of Barnesville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many beloved friends, and extended family.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Halley’s Ridge Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
