Freda Doris (VanFossen) Ankrom

Freda Doris Ankrom age 96, of Marietta, OH formerly of Caldwell, OH passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at The Pines at Glenwood Senior Living Community in Marietta. She was born July 14, 1926 a daughter of the late Harry Dallas and Serena Belle Toothman VanFossen.

She was Methodist by faith having been a member of the Quaker City United Methodist Church and most recently the Caldwell United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Guernsey Chapter #211 Order of the Eastern Star. Freda enjoyed square dancing for many years. She could often be found traveling with her husband Bill.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William H. “Bill” Ankrom, whom she married September 29, 1944 and who passed August 17, 2018; 2 sisters Hilma Ruth Bailey and Janet Louise Moore; 2 brothers Glenn VanFossen and Harry VanFossen.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Bradley (Sue) Ankrom of Davenport, FL and Randall (Linda) Ankrom of South Bend, IN; 3 grandchildren Bradley (Olga Ortega) Ankrom, Wendy (Pete) Chang, and Kimberly (Troy) Vogel; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Wright of Seville, OH; 6 nieces; 2 nephews and many friends.

Cremation will be observed, and no additional services will be held at this time. Inurnment will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Bill in Friends Cemetery in Quaker City, OH. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
