William H. "Bill" Smith age 77, of Sarahsville, OH passed away Tuesday morning, November 25, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 26, 1937 in Cleveland, OH a son of the late William H. and Sophie Jacobson Smith.
Bill was a man of many passions, held a Black Belt in Karate, he was an artist, loved Astronomy and Physics. He was also a pilot, skydiver, rock climber and hiker. He flew and built RC model airplanes. He was an inventor, having invented a device used in the renovations of the Statue of Liberty. He was employed for many years in the Research & Development Department at the Goodyear Tire Company. He was a craftsman and was responsible for creating some decorations, still used today on the Noble County Courthouse lawn for the holidays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Dickinson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Patricia Ann Summers Smith, whom he married August 4, 1984; 1 son Richard A. (Misty) Rogers II of Canton; 1 daughter Shelly Lynn (Larry) Mayes of Florida; 4 Grandchildren Skyler, Jessica, Tori and Casey; 2 Great-Grandchildren Corbin and Adaline; 1 brother Robert Smith of Akron.
Cremation will be observed. No additional services will be held at this time. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
