William Ellison

William A. "Bill" Ellison, age 81, of Mt. Ephraim, OH formerly of Lorain, OH passed away Saturday Evening (April 19, 2008) at his residence. He was born January 23, 1927 in Gassaway, W.V. a son of the late Ed and Clara Greenleaf Ellison. Bill served and protected his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at the Elyria Foundry as a Mill Wright for over 35 years prior to retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking, especially making the family Birdhouses. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 4 Brothers John, Jack, Norvel and Orvel Ellison; 2 Sisters Mabel Moss and Lucille Tolley; Son-In-Law Ernie Big and Great- Granddaughter Samantha Big. Surviving are his wife Wilma F. (Henes) Ellison of the home, whom he married September 4, 1948; 4 Daughters Carol Big of Elyria, Fran (Craig) Horvath of Lorain, OH, Dorothy (Ed) Andolsek of Wakeman, OH, Fay (Donald) Kiger of Lorain; 2 Sons Jim (Janice) Ellison of Vermilion, OH and Chuck Ellison of Mt. Ephraim, OH; 12 Grandhildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers Frank (Ruby) Ellison of Virginia, Richard Ellison of West Virginia and Fred (Esther) Ellison of Elyria; 1 Sister Emma Lou (Richard) Henes of Elyria. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday Afternoon (April 22, 2008) from 1 to 4 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. In keeping with Bill's wishes a caring cremation will take place following the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O.
