Life Legacy
On January 6, 2012, Suzanne Stansbury Mullen died peacefully at Heartland of Marietta just a short distance from her Devola home. Suzie was born in Athens County, December 19, 1935 and moved to Marietta with her family in 1948 when her father Dr. James Stansbury set up his veterinary practice here.

A 1953 graduate of Marietta High School, Suzie was the recipient of many academic awards. Professionally, she was a medical technologist and managed the General Consultants Lab in Marietta for many years.

In a recent conversation Suzie shared these thoughts on family, "Teach your kids everything you know, love 'em with all your heart, and let them be who they are." Suzanne Mullen was indeed the consummate Mom who loved unconditionally, gave way more than she ever asked in return, and she will be missed by so many whose hearts and lives she touched.

She is survived by sons Michael (Claire), Jim (Linda), Barry (preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Cathy Jo Cisler-Mullen), all of Marietta, Ohio, Patrick (Carol) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and daughter Kate (Dan) Martin, also of Marietta, grandchildren, James, Alexandria, Lindsay, Zachary, Leah, and Will, and her beloved sisters Judy, Lynn, and June.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10 a.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Marietta, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the O'Neill Senior Center Homemaker Program.
