Steven W. Bettinger

Steven W. Bettinger age 59, of Caldwell, OH passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Newark, OH, with Joan by his side, where she always remained. He was born February 14, 1959 in Marietta, OH a son of Wayne E. Bettinger of Caldwell and the late Bessie C. Lincicome Bettinger.

He was a 1977 Graduate of the Caldwell High School. He was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ and the Crooked Tree Hunting Club. He loved to attend car shows, showing off his 1972 Chevelle and was active in the Noble County Cruzers. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and riding ATVs with his family. He also liked to ride motorcycles and work on derby cars. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR.

In addition to his mother Bessie Bettinger, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law Kenneth R. "Rabbit" Schott and his step-father-in-law Larry Cecil Hammonds.

Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his father Wayne Bettinger, are his wife Joan E. Schott Bettinger of the home, whom he married August 23, 1980; daughter Kimberly (Charley) Griffin of Caldwell; son David (Kristy) Bettinger of Caldwell; grandchildren Timmy Lamp of the home, Hayden and Luke Bettinger, Peyton, Patience, and Paisley Griffin; 2 sisters Vicki (Tom) Polen of Dudley, OH and Tammi (Kevin) Bolen of Caldwell; 2 brothers Tom (Kathy) Bettinger Sr. & Doug (Sharon) Bettinger all of Caldwell; mother-in-law Theresa A. Hammonds of Caldwell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery south of Caldwell.
