Rev. Harold A. Green

Rev. Harold A. Green age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Caldwell. He was born August 27, 1928 in Elba, OH a son of the late William Arthur and Zella Marie Ward Green.

He was the oldest of 12 children, 7 boys and 5 girls. Harold attended the Elba Elementary School from the 1st until the 8th grade. He went on to work at Pittsburgh Oil & Gas working as a roustabout and mechanic. In 1972, he enrolled in the American School to complete his high school education, receiving his diploma on March 3, 1976. He worked in many different positions as diesel operator, pumper, loader at Republic Steel, shop manager, mechanic and started in the ministry. He eventually left the oil industry on September 21, 1964, to work for the Caldwell Light Plant as a mechanic and operator. When he wasnt working, he enjoyed farming.

Harold served as a lay speaker in the St. Clairsville District at the Lebanon church in Morgan County for 3 years. Then was transferred to Olive Green, South Olive and Middleburg while working at the Ford Garage in Caldwell. He also went to Licensing School at the Mt. Union College. On July 1, 1982 he was appointed full time at the Summerfield charge which consisted of Lewisville and Bracken Ridge. In that time he attended the Garrett Theological School of Ministry in Evanston, IL and also took courses at the Ohio University Eastern Campus in Belmont. In 1990 he was transferred to the Salineville charge, which consisted of Highlandtown and Rileys in the Steubenville District. In 1992 he was transferred to the Byesville Main Avenue Church in Byesville, OH in the Cambridge District. In 1995 he retired from the ministry because of ill health and moved back to his home in Caldwell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers Floyd and James Green; 3 sisters Marie Lori, Betty Larrick and Virginia Clark Lori; 3 brothers-in-law Harry Clark, Clarence Lori, and Bud Larrick; daughter-in-law Patricia Green and niece Janet Hannum.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife Leda G. Sealock Green, whom he married June 18, 1961; 2 daughters Debra (Randy) Cooper of Virginia and Carolyn (Joe) Griffin of Hiramsburg, OH; son Steven Green of Reinersville, OH; 2 grandchildren Jeremy and Joshua (Kelsey) Cooper; 3 step-grandchildren Adrienna, Adam and Candance; 4 brothers Virgil Green of Marysville, OH, Eldon (Sonja) Green of Caldwell, Vernon Green of Zanesville, OH and Glen Green of Caldwell; 2 sisters Ruth Henry of Dexter City, OH and Sandra Green of Caldwell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 537 Main Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Jim Cooper Officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Sharon, OH.
