Ray Mccallister

April 21, 1937 — November 6, 2013

Ray McCallister age 76 of Cambridge, OH passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at his home under the care of Hospice of Guernsey and surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1937 in Garretts Bend, WV a son of the late Danner and Opal Frances Blankenship McCallister.

Ray served and protected his nation in the US Army. He enjoyed watching Caldwell and Shenandoah High School Football. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, playing horse shoes and cornhole. He will be remembered as a very caring grandfather. He was also a former Summerfield Volunteer Fireman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Ruffner McCallister; sisters Beulah Frame and Helen LaFave; brother-in-law Jim Holstein; son Harold Alan McCallister; mother-in-law Alice Huffman.

He will be missed by his family, wife Arlene Huffman McCallister whom he married February 27, 1988; 2 sons Marvin and Terry McCallister; daughter Laura; 3 step-daughters Melissa Trisler of East Union, Lori (Carl) Dollison of Quaker City, and Angela (Ken) Herb of Pataskala; step-son Jason (Carrie) Blair of Belpre; 16 grandchildren including Caitlyn and Baileigh Trisler, Kyle, Trevor and Logan Herb, Victoria, Lauren and Jack Dollison; 2 sisters Verna Holstein and Rhonda Gay (Eldon) Criner all of St. Albans, WV; 2 sisters-in-law Cathy (Mike) Moore of Caldwell and Mickie Huffman of Caldwell; brothers-in-law Bob Hague of East Union and Rich Trisler of Caldwell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mark Slay Officiating. Burial will follow in East Union Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Ray McCallister Benefit Fund at Peoples Bank or to the Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box #1165, Cambridge, OH 43725.
