Norma 'Jeanie' J. Mcelroy

Norma J. "Jeanie" McElroy age 77, of Ava, OH went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Southeastern Med Hospital in Cambridge, OH, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness. She was born January 26, 1939 in Dexter City, OH a daughter of the late John and Veronica Fogle Saling.

She was a 1957 graduate of the former Dexter City High School and went on to graduate from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1960 with her Registered Nursing Degree. She was employed as a registered nurse for the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Caldwell for over 30 years, caring for her friends and neighbors. One of Jeanies true passions was working with her flowers and in her garden, her green thumb shined very brightly to those who knew her. She enjoyed canning the products of her gardening. Jeanie will be remembered by her family as a truly humble person and a great example for her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Stanford McElroy whom she married November 26, 1960 and who passed April 23, 2012. Seven brothers also preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory are 4 sons Timothy (Marie) McElroy, Jason (Diane) McElroy all of Cambridge, Matthew (Pat) McElroy of Cumberland, OH and Alvin (Angela) McElroy of Caldwell; 2 daughters Ellen (Jim) Mizik of Caldwell and Valerie McElroy of Caldwell; 7 grandchildren Christopher (Fiance Ashli Peters), Payje and Braden McElroy, Caleb, Jacob, Hannah and Dalton McElroy; 5 great-grandchildren Brookelyn, London and Colton Walter, Aubreigh and Lukas Mizik; 3 sisters Mary Ramage, Bertha Schroeder both of Dexter City, and Ruth (David) Erb of Lower Salem, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation will be observed, with no additional funeral services held at this time. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
