Life Legacy Mitchell "Mitch" Slemboski, age 85, of Sarahsville, OH passed away Tuesday Morning, August 31st, 2010 at Summit Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation in Caldwell, OH. He was born May 25th, 1925 in Dunglen, OH a son of the late George and Jessie Slemboski. Mitch graduated from Cadiz High School and the Lancaster Business College. He played baseball on the Cadiz American Legion Team. He served and protected his nation in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Norman Scott as a Boatswain's Mate during World War II. He was a member and Commander of the Summerfield American Legion Post #415 for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721. He attended the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church and was a retired Foreman for the Central Ohio Coal Company. Mitch was an avid sports fan, enjoyed wildlife and gardening. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 Sisters, 5 Brothers and a Son-In-Law George F. "Mike" Kirk. He will be missed by his family, Wife Mary R. Fowler Slemboski of the home, whom he married June 9th, 1951; Son Ronald (Sandy) Slemboski of the Reedsville, W.V.; 2 Daughters Diana Kirk of Sarahsville and Kathy (David) Watson of Sarahsville; 6 Grandchildren Adam (Samantha) Kirk, Kristi Kirk, JR and Summer Slemboski, Sandy and Heath Watson; 5 Great Grandchildren; Sister Jenny Kraus of Akron, OH. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Gruver Officiating. Burial will follow in Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield, OH, where the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations will conduct Military Graveside Services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be directed to National Parkinson Foundation, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018, Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box #1165, Cambridge, OH 43725 or the Mt.
