Mary E. Tilton

Mary E. Tilton, as her husband affectionately referred to her as "Bird Legs" age 86, of Cambridge, OH formerly of Caldwell, OH passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her daughters residence in Cambridge. She was born August 29, 1934 in Summerfield, OH a daughter of the late J.O. and Civilla Carpenter.

She enjoyed quilting and reading. The greatest enjoyment she had was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Tilton or as Mary so affectionately referred to him as "Pap Dog", whom she married September 3, 1955 and who passed February 20, 1999; 3 sisters Virginia Toohey, Fern Carpenter, and Ruth Spence; 7 brothers John, Morrie, Carson "Jack", Manoah "Noah", David, Whitey, and Jimmy Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory are 4 children Gregory Ford (Lori) Tilton of Caldwell, Kevin Charles Tilton of Lancaster, OH, Lisa Sue (Don) Palmer, and Lynn Elizabeth (Keith) Hess all of Cambridge; grandchildren Bryan Tilton, Carrie (Jared) Hupp, Kelle (Jeff) Shook, Carly Palmer, and Cameron Palmer; 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A private graveside service will be observed by the family in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband. Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family
