Mary A. Harding

Mary A. Harding age 89, of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at Southeastern Med in Cambridge, OH. She was born July 27, 1932 in Noble County, OH a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Nau Shafer.

She was a life member of St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda, OH. She was a member of the Catholic Womens Club, Belle Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post 641, and the Caldwell Women of the Moose Chapter 536. She was employed at the former Mahle Manufacturing Plant in Caldwell for 25 years and a member of the Local 4836 of the United Steelworkers. She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, and tatting lace. She proudly made every grandchild a quilt and afghan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Philip J. Harding whom she married October 8, 1955, and who passed away January 6, 2018; 3 brothers Bernard, Alfred, and Andrew Shafer; 1 sister Bernice L. Schoeppner; brother-in-law Harold Schockling.

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 sons Jeffrey (Joan) Harding of Caldwell, OH, James (Jennifer) Harding of Summerfield, OH, and John (Tina) Harding of Marietta, OH; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Margaret Schockling of Caldwell; brother-in-law Howard Schoeppner of Caldwell; She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Due to current COVID conditions, the family will observe a private visitation and private Mass of Christian Burial held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda, with Rev. Father Wayne Morris serving as celebrant. The public is invited to view the Mass on the St. Stephen Catholic Church Facebook page. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
