Mary Eleanor Blackburn

Mary Eleanor Nelson Blackburn age 89, of Cumberland, OH passed away peacefully at her home with her closest family members by her side on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born February 7, 1935 in Woodgrove, OH a daughter to the late James and Maggie Gorrell Nelson.

Mary was known for playing piano, her folk paintings, and letters to friends. She enjoyed her pet birds, tending to her herb and flower garden, and writing stories. Mary was one of Jehovahs Witnesses in the Cambridge, OH congregation.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Dale E. Blackburn, whom she married February 3, 1956 and passed August 28, 2023; siblings Ramon Nelson, Ada Blackburn, John Nelson and Marge Walder.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter Kathy (Rick) Kotoff; two granddaughters Sarah (Jeff) Campbell and Katie (James) Krouskoupf; 4 great-grandchildren Livia (Luke) Byers, Ian Campbell, Sophia and Everett Krouskoupf. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation will be observed with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
