Leona 'Skip' E. Barton

Leona E. "Skip" Saling Barton age 86, of Caldwell, OH passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Caldwell. She was born February 22, 1929 in Noble County, Ohio a daughter of the late John A. and Sylvia M. Roehrig Saling.

Leona was a member of St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda, OH and their Catholic Womens Club. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Two of her many passions were working in her garden and her yard. She was formerly employed at the Fern Restaurant, the City Market and later Gateway IGA all in Caldwell.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Earl James Barton whom she married in May of 1974 and who passed away January 14, 2005; 2 brothers Bernard F. Saling and Virgil Leo Saling; step-son Robert Earl Barton II.

Those left to cherish her memory are 1 sister Eleanor E. Saling of Caldwell; 1 brother Victor A. Saling of Caldwell; step-daughter Linda (Robert) Corp of Whipple, OH; 3 step-grandchildren Jason Corp, Adam Barton and Angel Dawn (Brent) Johnson; 1 step-great-grandchild Taylor Corp. She is also survived by several step-nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may join the family for Visitation on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Vigil Service to begin visitation at 4:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda, with Rev. Father Wayne Morris serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
