Larry Edwin McCullough age 91, of Caldwell, OH, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving children. He was born April 20, 1935, in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Paul J. and Ruth E. Cooper McCullough.
He was a 1953 graduate of Cadiz High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the Ohio State University in 1957, and received a Master’s Degree in Education from West Virginia University in 1968. His first teaching position was at Waynesfield High School from 1957 to 1958. Larry then moved on to a position as teacher and football coach at Beallsville High School from 1958 to 1963. He then finished his career as a teacher, administrator and coach at Shenandoah High School from 1963 to 1991. Larry eventually worked for the Noble County Common Pleas Court from 1992 to 2015. He also served as a ranger at Seneca Lake for over 40 years from 1964 to 2008.
Larry was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, Sharon Lodge #136 F. & A.M., and the Shenandoah Athletic Boosters for many years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Cunningham McCullough, whom he married November 26, 1955 and who passed away October 11, 2001; a grandson Samuel Ryan McCullough; sister Patricia (Charles) Thomas; nephew Scott Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Steve McCullough of Hamilton, OH, Francene (Gregg) Ogden of Lewisville, OH, Michael McCullough of Bedford, VA, and Brenda Jenkins of Estero, FL; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth (Marsha) McCullough of Chesterfield, MO; his companion and best furry friend Buddy. He also leaves many lives he blessed with knowledge and encouragement from his many years in education and coaching.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, August 10, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Rusty Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, OH where Larry will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Jo Ann. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his honor to a charity of your choice.
