Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share that L. Shaun Neff, 67, of Caldwell, peacefully passed away at home on March 26, 2026 at 8:55pm, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 16, 1958, he was the beloved only son and eldest child of Larry E. Neff and Sally Nan Neff, who preceded him in death.

Shaun was a 1977 graduate of Caldwell High School and spent his career doing what he truly enjoyed - operating heavy equipment. As a proud member of the Operators Engineering Union, he ran cranes, backhoes, and dozers with skill and pride. He often joked about his certifications, calling them his “smart cards,” but those who knew him understood just how proud he was of the life and career he built.

Shaun found happiness in life’s simple, everyday moments. Whether he was in his garage, out on the mower, or just going for a drive, he was right where he wanted to be. He had a deep love for sports and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians. True to his roots, he was a dedicated Chevy man through and through.

More than anything, Shaun’s greatest joy was his family. He married his loving and devoted wife, Deborah L. Archer, on June 6, 1981, and together they shared a lifetime of memories. He was a proud and loving father to Stacy (Brian) Parks, Troy (Mindy) Neff, and Michael (Trish) Neff. Lovingly referred to as G-man, his grandchildren - Haylee, Whyatt, and Hunter Parks; Andrew and Gabe Neff; and Parker, Dominick, Emerick, Maverick, and Landrick Neff - were the light of his life. He rarely missed a chance to cheer them on and treasured every moment spent watching them grow.

He is also survived by his sisters, Julie (Curtis) Mettler and Tonda Hall; brothers-in-law Steve Archer and Jeff (Sarah) Archer; sister-in-law Sharon (Steve) Mooney; aunts Patsy Lawrence and Shirley (Jack) Hayes; many nieces and nephews; and a very special and dear friend, David Shuster.

In addition to his parents, Shaun was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles, as well as a special friend, Marty Jennings.

Family will receive visitors at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 on Monday, March 30th, 2026 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 beginning at 10:00am at the St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1036 Belford Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Father Thomas Nelson serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.

Shaun will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the open road, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. His presence, laughter, and steady way of life will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As he always said, “we never say goodbye – it’s, see ya.”
