Kitty Petry

Mary Evealena "Kitty" Petry, age 81 of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, March 25th, 2011 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Caldwell. She was born November 20th, 1929 in South Olive, OH a daughter of the late Joseph Irvil and Minerva Catherine Morland Armstrong. Kitty was very active in her community. She was a member of several Veteran Auxiliary Organizations, the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, Buffalo VFW Post #8040, Dexter City American Legion Post #418 and the Belle Valley American Legion Post #641. She was an avid historian, assisted with Daisy and Brownie Scouts and their cookie sales. She wrote articles for The Journal Leader on upcoming events, helped cancer families on benefits and could always be found working the Poppy Day Sales. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Austin Ray Petry whom she married December 21st, 1949 and who passed March 5th, 1988; 3 Brothers Noah, Amos and David Armstrong. She will be missed by her family, 3 daughters Cheryl (Grover Jr.) Townsend of Caldwell, Debra (Jerry) Hall of Cumberland, OH and Christi (Dale) Henry of Dexter City, OH; 4 Sons Carl (Connie) Petry of Macksburg, James (Tracy) Petry of Cumberland, Jeff (Reba) Petry of Caldwell and David (Christy) Petry of Caldwell; 21 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; Brother Joseph (Estuko) Armstrong of Texas. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Monday, March 28th, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Rogers and Rev. William Pickenpaugh Co-officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery south of Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Guernsey, Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
