Joyce Elaine Bates

Life Legacy Joyce Elaine Bates, age 69 of Caldwell, OH passed away Sunday January 15, 2012 at Southeastern Med in Cambridge, OH. Joyce was born July 23, 1942 in McKeesport, PA a daughter of the late Carl Albert and Martha Barr Willis Boyer. Joyce was an avid animal lover and a member of the US Humane Society. She was a Methodist by faith and was also a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721 Auxiliary. She retired after 25 years of service from the former Dana Corporation in Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Larry D. Bates, whom she married July 22, 1989 and who passed away January 26, 2010; Son David Lee McElroy, Great Granddaughter Samantha Thomas and Sister Sandra Sue Ferry. She is survived by a Daughter Teresa (Jay) Kennedy of Byesville, OH; 3 Step Daughters Kathy (Marc) Thomas of Johnstown, OH, Kris Presnell of Pleasant City, OH and Konny (Robert ) Pickenpaugh of Caldwell; 8 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters Rita Fultz of Byesville and Carol (Howard) Christy of Ashland, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation will be observed with no additional services held by the family at this time. Inurnment will be performed at a later date. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the PAWS Inc. Humane Society of Noble County, P.O. Box #4, Caldwell, OH 43724 in Joyce's honor.
