January 3, 1935 to January 6, 2018. Born and raised in St. Marys, WV. John married Rhoda W. Triplett and together they raised two children, John Jr. "Trip" and Paige.

John proudly served in the Air Force Band, enlisting in June of 1953 and serving on active duty until June of 1957. Prior to being in the Air Force Band, he was in the all-state band and orchestra out of St. Marys High School. He was a proud member of the St. Marys Alumni Band for a number of years.

He enlisted in the West Virginia Army National Guard in their Special Forces Group in November of 1961. He was commissioned on January 2, 1963 as a Lieutenant in the US Army. He served in both the West Virginia and Ohio Army National Guard. He ended his service with Ohio Army National Guard in 1970. While in the Ohio Army National Guard, he commanded guardsmen, restoring order in numerous riots in the cities and colleges of Ohio during those difficult times.
