John M. Mackie Jr.

John M. Mackie Jr. age 61, of Sarahsville, OH passed away Wednesday June 19, 2013 at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, OH. He was born August 29, 1951 in Athens, OH a son of the late John M. and Delores Halley Mackie Sr.

John served and protected our nation in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was a foster parent for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 1 sister Phyllis Dillon and 1 brother Tom Mackie.

He was loved and will be missed by his family, wife Jerri L. Endly Mackie of the home, whom he married April 23, 1988; 3 sons Matt (Lindsay) Mackie of Houston, MN, Jason (Jennifer) Mackie of Sarahsville and Jeremy Rossiter of Sarahsville; 3 grandchildren Sydney, Kendall and Carter Mackie; 1 brother Jeff Mackie of Marietta, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends and numerous foster children.

Friends will be received Sunday June 23, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Monday June 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Josh Hetrick officiating. Burial will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery near Belle Valley, OH, with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
