Biography

James A. "Jim" Tate, age 84 of Caldwell, OH passed away Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 following a lengthy illness, at the Selby General Hospital in Marietta, OH. He was born April 7th, 1925 in Gadsden, AL a son of the late Charlie and Nannie Maddox Tate. Jim enjoyed to hunt in his early years and to paint in the later years. He was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron for many years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 Brothers Jess and John Tate. Jim leaves his family: Wife Marleen E. Miller Tate of Caldwell, whom he married November 15th, 1952; 3 Daughters Deanna (Bill) Weaver of Zanesville, OH, Brenda Farnsworth of Marietta and Kathy Goobsy of Walnut Grove, AL; Son Jim Tate and Brenda Schaffner of Canton, OH; Granddaughter and "Guardian Angel" Janie Tate of Marietta; 2 Sisters Mary Lou (John) Churchwell of Pinson, AL and Louise Galloway of Boaz, AL. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. The family will observe a private graveside service in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell with Pastor Floyd Costello Officiating. Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
