Jerry D Merry

Jerry D. Merry, age 55 of Caldwell, OH passed away Monday, September 13th, 2010 at his home. He was born December 28th, 1954 in Marietta, OH a son of Nellie Archer Merry of Sarahsville, OH and the late Robert E. Merry. Jerry was a 1973 Graduate of Shenandoah High School. His years of employment started with Charlie and Larry Cowgill at the Cowgill Chevrolet in Caldwell, he then moved on to the Marietta Coal Co. in St. Clairsville, then to Nicolozakes Trucking and Construction Co. Inc. in Cambridge, OH. He was on the Board of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Caldwell since January of 1989. He was a lifetime farmer and breeder of Registered Polled Hereford with the farm business, being recognized by the American Hereford Association in 2004 for keeping Hereford in the family for 100 years. The Ohio Buckeye Hereford Association inducted Jerry and Brenda in to the Hall of Merit in January of 2010. Jerry was active and served on the board of the former Guernsey / Noble Feeder Calf Association, the Noble County Cattleman's Association, the Switzerland Polled Hereford Association, Buckeye Hereford Association, Ohio Cattleman's Association as well as the National Cattleman's Association. He also served as the Chairperson of the Eastern Agricultural Research Station Advisory Council. Jerry was a very active Mason and was a Past Master and member of Olive Lodge #210 F & AM and also belonged to the Sharon Lodge #136 F & AM. He was a 32nd Degree Mason - Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and a Past President of the 18th Masonic District. Jerry was always good to step into any role as needed and keep things lively. He is survived by his Wife Brenda McKinney Merry of the home, whom he married Dec. 21st, 1975; 2 Sons Johnny D. (Jodi) Merry of Columbus, OH and Ryan E. (Christina) Merry of Caldwell; 2 Precious Granddaughters Alison and Heather Merry of Caldwell; 2 Sisters Melody (Dave) Johnston of Centerville, OH and Pamela (Brian) Cramer of Columbus. Also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Friday, September 17th, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Masonic Services conducted at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Wilson Officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
