Harry Theodore “Ted” Hannum, 76 of Caldwell, OH left this earth on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was born April 12, 1950 in Zanesville, OH to the late Harry L and E. Marguerite Hannum.

Ted was a 1968 graduate of Shenandoah High School. He then joined the United States Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. He earned a National Defense Service Medal; a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. He was so proud to have served his country and always wore a ballcap displaying Vietnam War Veteran.

He was a twenty-one-year member of American Legion Post 641 in Belle Valley where he served as Vice Commander and two terms as Commander.

Ted was a past member of Lafayette # 79 F. & A.M. in Zanesville. He attended Ragan’s Chapel in Hoskinsville.

Ted worked at many jobs over the years and was extremely happy to have been employed by GMN HeadStart Epic School in Cambridge until his health forced him to retire about a month before his passing. He was Head of Maintenance and the little children loved him. During Right to Read Week, the children asked Mr. Ted (as they called him) to read to them.

Ted is survived by Karen Johnson Danford of the home, his companion of many years. Karen took care of him until the end and the family is forever grateful to her. He is survived by two daughters: LeaAnn Hannum (Matt Watson) of Caldwell and Sara Anderson of Canton; his grandchildren: Alyssa, Levi, Derrick and Lexi. He leaves behind several great-grandchildren.

Also, he is survived by sisters, Marilyn Ashcraft of Greer, SC and Sharon Wimmer (Michael) of St. George, UT. He leaves one brother, Stephen Hannum (Diane) of Homosassa Springs, FL. Two sisters-in-law: Charlotte Gibbons of Marysville, Ohio and Lynda Cooper of Hilliard, OH. Ted also leaves behind one aunt, Thelma Roe of Senecaville and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Edward and Inez Hannum and Miles and Maggie Darrah of Macksburg. Also, two grandsons and two brothers Dan Cooper and Carl Cooper.

Ted has chosen cremation and Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 is assisting the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
