George Martin

George L. Martin, 78, of Cumberland, OH passed away peacefully and surrounded by family Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born November 20, 1936 a son of the late Herman D. and Luella Paisley Martin. He was raised in the Cumberland area and graduated in 1954 from Cumberland High School. He was a member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church.

He was a life-long farmer and cattleman. He owned and operated Misty View Angus Farms with his son John. He was employed for Monroe Grading for 27 years and worked for Cumberland Limestone for 10 years. He also served for over 35 years as a board member for the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center. He was a member of the American Angus Association, Ohio Angus Association, Eastern Ohio Angus Association, Ohio Cattlemens Association and was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau for over 50 years.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Vivian (Paisley) Martin, whom he married Sept. 14, 1956, a son, two daughters, and four grandchildren. Surviving him are one son John Martin of Cumberland. Daughter Elizabeth Harsh of Radnor and son-in-law Tim, granddaughter Bailey and grandson William. Daughter Susan Colombo of Peoria, Illinois and son-in-law Giovanni, grandson Nicolas and granddaughter Gianna.

He is also survived by a brother Eldon (Martha) Martin of Cumberland and sister Sara (David) Stutes of Columbus.

Friends and family may call Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and Friday, July 31, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery.
