Geneva Wilson Archer, 86, of Caldwell passed away on Saturday, November 13 at her home surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born in Summerfield, OH on December 24, 1923 the daughter of the late Friend and Ila Barnes Wilson. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Archer in 1945. Geneva was a graduate of Summerfield High School and The Ohio State University with a degree in nursing. She worked at OSU Medical Center as a registered nurse and then at a physician's office in Circleville, Ohio where she and Don made their home for more than 56 years. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she was active in the women's group. She was a talented cook, baker and seamstress and used her talent to give back to the community. She and Don enjoyed volunteering their time each October to help bake hundreds of pumpkin pies to be sold at the Circleville Pumpkin Show as a church fundraiser. She was also know for quilting and won multiple awards for her work. Geneva was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and made many trips to Noble County to spend time with her children and grandchildren. On each visit she'd arrive with a trunk full of homemade goodies, especially at Christmas time, when she'd bake hundreds of dozens of cookies to share with family and friends. Her kindness and caring will be deeply missed by the whole family. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald V. Archer, who passed on April 15, 2009, along with three brothers, John T. "Jay", Franklin, Ward "Bill", and Infant Donald Wilson, and one sister, Viva Batten. She leaves behind two sons, Tom (Robin) Archer of Summerfield and Don (Micki) Archer of Summerfield; four grandchildren, Alison (Matthew) Hannahs, Luke (Megan) Archer, Josh Archer and Justin Archer (fiancee Constance Fowler); three great-grandchildren, Lane and Garrett Hannahs, and Natalie Archer; a sister, Vivian Thornhill; four sisters-in-law Florence Wilson, Margaret Archer, Mary Evelyn (James) Scott, and Martha Mary Archer; and two brothers-in-law William and Virgil Archer. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends will be received at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 on Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Cooper Officiating. Burial will follow at Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield.
