Earl Lee Johnson

Earl Lee Johnson, age 59, of Marietta, OH passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Marietta. He was born February 25, 1954 in Zanesville, OH, a son of the late James and O. Rachel Rice Johnson.

Earl was raised near Norwich, Ohio. He had a love for his profession of driving semi-trucks, which he operated for 27 years. During his career, he was fortunate enough to visit all 48 of the continental United States. He found joy in cooking, camping, traveling, attending and watching NASCAR races with his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, friends and all who knew him. Earl was a big man with a big heart and one-of-a-kind personality.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Donna J. Lothes.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lothes Johnson, whom he married March 1, 2006; daughter Angie Goff (Ron Hallowell) of Norwich; step-daughter Heather (Jeremy) Hesson of Beverly; 2 step-sons Cody Sayre (Lacey Sweeney) of Lowell and Dylan Sayre of Beverly; grandchildren Justus Goff, Carson Hallowell; step-grandchildren Grady and Mia Hesson; Siblings Harold (Linda) Johnson, Patty (Ron) McQuain, Cathy Jo (Terry) Hodgson, Debbie Blake (Jim Paul), Dennie Johnson, Carla (Paul) Rouse and Jeff Johnson; father-in-law Dale J. Lothes; a good friend Paul Titus. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A memorial service will conclude the visitation, Saturday at 4:00 PM, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Dunlap and Pastor Keith Taylor co-officiating.

Inurnment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, OH at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Strecker Cancer Center, 401 Matthews Street, Marietta, OH 45750.

Earl was never one to use the word goodbye, so in his immortal words."Later."
