Dorothy Shafer

Dorothy L. Shafer, age 65 of Caldwell, OH passed away Wednesday May 8th, 2013 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, OH. She was born February 12th, 1948 in Monroe County, OH a daughter of the late William and Anna Brown Leasure. Dorothy had a passion for country music and loved vacationing in Tennessee. She also enjoyed playing the slots and shopping on TV shopping networks. Although ongoing health issues limited her ability to visit as much as she would have liked, she had an undying love for and an enormous pride in her children and their extended families. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 5 brothers Kenneth, Earl, Eugene, Carl and Leonard Leasure; 2 sisters Geneva Leasure and Betty Cline. She will be loved and missed dearly by her family, husband Kenneth Shafer of the home, whom she married July 3rd, 1966; a son Kenneth (Tammy) Shafer of Lower Salem OH; daughter Marci (Allen) McCune of Delaware OH; 4 grandchildren Toni (Gabe) Morrison, Bridget (Steven) Sloter, Austin and Hunter McCune; great-granddaughter Lillian Morrison; 2 brothers Raymond (Geneva) Leasure of Caldwell, Richard Leasure of Summerfield, OH; 2 sisters Lucille (Omer) Long of Sarahsville, OH and Ruth Leasure of Caldwell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends. Private Family Services were observed at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Jim Garrett officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Stafford, OH.
