Dorothy Delores Morris

Dorothy Delores Carpenter Morris age 92 of Ona, WV formerly of Summerfield, OH passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at her home in Summerfield, surrounded by her family. She was born April 4, 1926 near Batesville, Ohio a daughter of the late Alva and Mary Yost Carpenter.

Dorothy was a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ. She worked at American Greetings in Cleveland, OH and as a Riveter in WWII owning her own tool box to drill holes in the doors of airplanes preparing for the war. Dorothys favorite role was that of a spotless housekeeper who enjoyed nothing more than visiting with friends and family. She will always be remembered by all, as a great cook and quilter; the number of noodles and saucer size cinnamon rolls she made over the years brought comfort to hundreds. She was truly the happiest when she knew you were happy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved soldier and husband, Robert Jacob Morris, whom she married August 10, 1946 and who passed away December 2, 2007; siblings Zelma (Milton) Huebener, Lenna (Alfred) Clauss, Olive (Ray) Maurer, Rodney (Erma) Carpenter, and Mary Lois (Bob) Suhr.

Those left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters Rita (Russ) Hodges of Huntington, WV and Reva Bailey of Ona, WV; 3 grandchildren Reona Bailey-McGee of Barboursville, WV, Ryan Hodges of Greenville, SC, and Roman Hodges of Huntington, WV; 2 great-grandsons Roman Jacob McGee and Rocco Gray McGee of Barboursville, WV; siblings Norma (McKinley) Morris of Summerfield, OH, Bobby (Elaine) Carpenter of West Lafayette, OH, Herbert (Esther) Carpenter of Batesville, OH, Frank (Bessie) Carpenter of Caldwell; Max (Sharon) Carpenter of Senecaville, OH, and Connie (Marsha) Carpenter of Westerville, OH. She is also survived by many close nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends especially Verna Brown.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation Saturday at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Jim Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery in Quaker City, OH.

Anyone that knew Dorothy will remember they were always welcome at her and Bobs home that she kept spotless. They would finish off their visit at the big white house on the hill, while sitting in their red swings, drinking coffee. Above all things, she especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
