Donald 'Don' D. Nichols

Donald D. Nichols age 83 of Cambridge, OH passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, OH surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21, 1932 in Noble County, Ohio a son of the late Harry O. and Lillie Elva Lewis Nichols.

Don served and protected our nation in the Unites States Navy, serving 4 years during the Korean War. He was a rural mail carrier for the Caldwell Post Office for many years until retirement. He was a member of the House of Prayer Fellowship Church in Byesville, OH. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sporting events. He could often be found playing his guitar or his mandolin. When he wasnt playing music, he liked fishing and camping.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 5 brothers Walter R., Kenneth D., James L., Roland "Dick" and Robert Lee "Bob" Nichols.

Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife Connie Lou King Nichols, whom he married July 4, 1957; 2 daughters Debbie (Randy) Smith of Cambridge and Sharon (John Smith) Willis of Cambridge; 6 grandchildren Devon, Stephen and Kelsey Willis, Heather, Nicholas and Casey Smith; 1 great-grandson Aidan Willis; 3 sisters Eileen Miller and Ruth Cain both of Caldwell and Patsy Ann (Guy) Munson of Canton, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor John Keaton and Dave Wylie co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
