Danny L Bates

Danny Lee Bates Sr., age 58, of East Union, OH passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his home. He was born March 11, 1950 in Sarahsville, OH a son of the Alwilda Irene Sorg Bates Ferguson and the late Ronald Wayne Bates. Danny was a member of the Summerfield American Legion Post #415. He served and protected his country in the U.S. Navy Serving on a Submarine from 1968 to 1972 and in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976, having served in Germany. He was an employee of Spectra Energy for over 31 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, raising horses and tinkering with electronic and mechanical items of any sort. He was preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother he is survived by Three Sons Danny (Dana) Lee Bates Jr. of Colorado, Ronald Edward Bates (Sarah Browning) of East Union and Cory Evan Bates of Barnesville; One Daughter Crista Daneen Bates of Barnesville; 3 Grandsons Brandon Lee Bates, Cyler Alexander Bates and one to arrive soon. Loving Girlfriend Kay McDonald of Summerfield, OH; One Brother Wayne (Barb) Bates of Summerfield; Four Sisters Beverly West of Dayton, Becky (Tim) Rine of Arkansas, Brenda (Jake) Wells of Caldwell and Betsy (Kevin) Williams of Summerfield. Also Survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and Co-Workers. Friends will be received Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Joshua Rine Officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home and a Caring Cremation will take place following.
