Life Legacy Dr. Dale Shackle, 71, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, died peacefully Tuesday morning, October 9, 2012, after waging a courageous battle with leukemia. Born and raised in Caldwell, OH, the only son of the late Ernest and Leora (Hayes) Shackle, Dale received his BS in Chemistry degree from Marietta College, and a Doctorate in Inorganic Chemistry from Ohio University. In Chillicothe, OH he began a long career with Mead Paper that spanned over twenty years. After serving as Director of Central Research, he was transferred to Dayton, OH to become Vice President of Technology for Mead Imaging. During his tenure at Mead, Dale was awarded over sixty patents. His brilliant career continued in the Silicon Valley, CA where he was an inventor and entrepreneur in the rechargeable battery industry. Upon retiring, Dale and Anna settled in Lakewood Ranch, FL, where he had a second career teaching at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Anna Montgomery Shackle of the home; his two daughters, Stephanie Shackle (Sam Hardesty) of Richmond, VA, and Andrea (Dan) Miniard of Springboro, OH; and four grandchildren, Kaitlin and Alex Blonsky, and Ryan and Riley Miniard. Friends will be received Monday evening, October 15th, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday morning, October 16th, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
