Claire E Hayes

Claire E. Hayes, age 74 of Caldwell, OH passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 1, 1937 in Caldwell a son of the late Chester and Faye Devolld Hayes. Claire founded the Hayes General Merchandise Inc. (True Value) in 1979 and operated it for many years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell. Claire enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid gun owner. For many years, Claire could be found boating or fishing in his spare time. He will be missed by his family, wife Lowene Willey Hayes of the home, whom he married October 14th, 1956; Three sons Gary Hayes of Johnstown, OH, Douglas (Paula) Hayes of Indianapolis, IN and Tim (Judy) Hayes of Caldwell; Six Grandchildren Matthew Hayes, Lindsay (Troy) Abrams, Brandon (Molly) Hayes, Staci Hayes, Brent Hayes and Olivia Hayes; 1 Great Granddaughter Zoey; Two Brothers Larry (Lee) Hayes of Cincinnati, OH and William (Carolyn) Hayes of Pataskala, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. A cremation will be observed, with no visitation or funeral services at this time. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Church of Christ, 601 North Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724 or the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 24, Caldwell, OH 43724-0024 in Claire's honor.
