His Legacy.... Rev. Dr. Charles Isaac "Ike" Moore, age 85, of Park Village, Dover, Ohio, (formerly of Sharon, Ohio), went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 13, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Charles was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and servant of the Lord whose only desire was to live his faith in his everyday life.
Charles was born on February 7, 1922, in Caldwell, Ohio, and was the son of the late Raymond and Florence (Parrish) Moore of Caldwell. Charles graduated from Caldwell High School in 1940. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. He graduated from Eastern Christian College and received degrees from Nyack College, B.R.E., Muskingum College, B.A., and The Ohio State University, M.A. and Ph.D. A retired schoolteacher, Charles, served the Caldwell and Zanesville City School Districts for a total of 26 years. He was also a member of the Caldwell School Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell. Charles' favorite pastime was reading. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Charles served in the ministry for 58 years. He and his late wife, Josephine, served as missionaries to Panama under the Conservative Baptist Home Mission Society. They also served in pastorates together at East Orange, New Jersey, Crestline Baptist Church, Crestline, Ohio, and First Baptist Church, Byesville, Ohio. He served as an interim pastor at Old Cambridge Baptist Church, Cambridge, Ohio, and Newport Baptist Church, Newport, Ohio. Rev. Moore was a member of the Ohio Education Association, Ohio Retired Teachers, Caldwell Retired Teachers, American Association of Retired Persons, Disabled American Veterans, the minister's council of the Ohio Baptist Convention and the Cambridge Area Ministers Association.
His Family... Charles is survived by his three children, Rebecca (Roy) Williams of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, Cindy (Jerry) Hall of Dover, Ohio, and David (Shelly) Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Mark Williams, Jared (Tammy) Hall, Heidi (Tommy) Baker, Heather Williams, Kristen Hall, Adam Hall, Emma Moore, Isaac Moore; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Corrine Hall, Carter, Avery, and Ashleigh Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, his parents, and his 2 sisters, Mary Stickel and Jean Moore.
 
His Farewell Service... Friends will be received Monday (April 16, 2007) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Caldwell with the Pastor Ed Scaglione and Rev. Gary Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery in Sharon, OH with Military Graveside Services conducted by the Noble County Veterans Organizations. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Noble County Gideons, 17920 Hunkadora Road, Caldwell, Ohio 43724.
