Catherine L. Gessel

Catherine L. Gessel age 76, of Macksburg, OH passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 26, 1946 in Elyria, OH a daughter of the late Edwin and Sylvia Gheen Ellis.

She attended the Evergreen Bible Church in Williamstown, WV. Catherine enjoyed knitting and loved flowers, especially her roses.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Terry Allen Gessel; brothers Lester and Everett Ellis.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Charles Gessel, whom she married December 31, 1963; three children Shirley Verlaque, Richard (Jamie) Gessel all of Macksburg and Joe (Jamie) Gessel of Lowell, OH; four grandchildren Josh (Victoria) Gessel, Jake (Jeni) Erb, Jennifer (Fianc Tim Tiller) Gessel, and Kacie (Reed) Fitzwater; four great-grandchildren Isabella Gessel, Charles Gessel, Adam Gessel, and Jenelle Erb; two sisters Hazel (Wayne) Thornberry and Shirley Snodgrass; two brothers Charles (Louis) Ellis and Keith (Deb) Ellis. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation will be observed with no additional services held at this time. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Shafer Cemetery, near Macksburg. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
