Carl E. Farley Sr., age 77, of Sarahsville, OH passed away Thursday afternoon (Nov. 20, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH. He was born Nov. 28, 1930 in Dexter City, OH a son of the late Leol and Ida Schafer Farley. Carl served and protected his country in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War as a Paratrooper. He was a member of the Sarahsville United Methodist Church. Carl was an Owner/Operator truck driver working for Iddings Trucking in Lowell for many years. Many of his trucking colleagues will remember him by his handle which was "Chief Sitting Bull." He enjoyed all types of automotive work from semis to cars and mowing the yard. The true passion of his life was his family and spending time with them and his two dogs Momo and Bear. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Mame Smith, who raised Carl, Son Christopher James Farley and Sister Mary Lou Stanton. Surviving are Reba L. Farley of the home, whom he married Nov. 28, 1952; Three Sons Carl Ed (Judy) Farley Jr. of Barlow, OH, Cyle Ryan (Janet) Farley of Douglasville, PA and Cale Brian (Shawn) Farley of Bloomfield, OH; One Daughter Chawn L. (Gary) Stiers of Cumberland, OH; Daughter-In-Law Delia Farley of Caldwell, OH; 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; One Sister Eliose Lippert of Canton, OH; Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. In keeping with Carl's wishes a caring cremation will be performed. The family will receive friends Sunday (Nov. 23, 2008) from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Memorial Service will conclude visitation at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wendy Erb Officiating. Inurnment will follow at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville with Military Graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
