Bonnie J. Mcelfresh

Bonnie J. McElfresh age 92, of Summerfield, OH passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at her daughters residence in Nashport, OH. She was born June 3, 1929 in Summerfield, OH a daughter of the late Howard M. and Anna Eschbaugh Bates.

She was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She worked at home babysitting and doing laundry for several families. She later took care of her husbands aunt. She also took care of several elderly ladies in the community. Before Bonnies last son left home, she began working at Essex Wire in Zanesville, OH. She worked there for 25 years before retiring and the factory later closed. She liked to go to Bingo and Wheeling Island.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Edward McElfresh whom she married July 21, 1948 and who passed away May 6, 1998; 2 sons Harold and Michael McElfresh; daughter Theresa Kahle; grandson Travis E. Spires; 2 great-grandchildren Clara Rose Meyer and Aaron Schnipke; 2 sons-in-law Terry Brown and Troy Satterfield; 3 brothers Johnny, Harry, and Byron Bates; 3 sisters Olive Starr, Margaret Yoho Ewing, and Martha Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters Diane Brown of Caldwell, Judy (Mike) Spires of Caldwell, and Barb Satterfield of Nashport; son-in-law Dan Kahle of Kalida, OH; daughter-in-law Carol Novak of Byesville, OH; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and special neighbor Brenda Wise of Summerfield. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. (For those wishing to attend services the family request masks be worn for the safety of everyone.) A family funeral service will be held in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Jackie Hoover officiating.
