Betty Imogene Kerns Mallett

Betty Imogene Kerns Mallett age 92, of Caldwell, formerly of Summerfield, OH passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Summit Acres Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Caldwell. She was born January 17, 1926 in Wayne Township in Monroe County, Ohio a daughter of the late Charles Ray and Laura Brown Cline.

Betty was a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ and most recently attended the Caldwell Church of Christ. She was retired from the former NCR & RCA Plants in Cambridge following 20 years of service, where she also served as a Group Leader. She was the Mayor of Summerfield for many years, as well as the first woman elected to the Summerfield Village Council. She was a big OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan. She was active in the Shenandoah Boosters for many years and served as Treasurer. She enjoyed cross stitching and made every grandchild a quilt. She will always be remembered by her family as a great cook and baker, the number of noodles she made over the years are too numerous to count. She was truly the happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Don Kerns; husband Walter Mallett; an infant son Baby Parks; son Pat Kerns; daughter Kathryn Parks; grandson Todd Boron; 2 step-sons Terry and Tim Mallett; 2 brothers Edgar and Frederick Cline; 2 sisters Evelyn Ridgeway and Louetta Wagner; 2 daughters-in-law Jo Ann Parks and Debra Kerns.

Those left to cherish her memory are 1 daughter Donna (Jerry) Carrel of Mt. Ephraim, OH; 4 sons Jim (Dixie) Parks of Summerfield, Lowell "L.T." (Kathy) Kerns of Zanesville, OH, Jay Dee Kerns of Summerfield, and Mike (Becky) Kerns of Byesville, OH; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; step-daughter Melody Mallett of Marietta, OH; 2 dear friends Boots Henry and Arlene Winkler. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, June 29, 2018 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Jimmie Moore and Kirby Moore co-officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, OH.
