Biography

Alfred "Al" G. Fogel, age 88, of Caldwell, OH passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Southeastern Med in Cambridge, OH. He was born April 12th, 1923 in Cleveland, OH a son of the late Alfred and Edna Miller Fogel. He served and protected his nation in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired in 1978 after many years of service as a US Postal Carrier in Kent, OH. He was a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721 and the Summerfield American Legion Post #415. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and farming. Along with his wife, he operated a greenhouse in Carlisle for many years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son James G. Fogel and 3 sisters. He will be missed by his family, Audra Louise Schilmiller Fogel of the home, whom he married June 17th, 1950; 4 Daughters Linda (Greg) Neiger of Wadsworth, OH, Kathy (David) Wise of Mogadore, OH, Dawn (Steve) Catalano of Hartville, OH and Bonnie Walters of Belle Valley, OH; 1 Son Fred Fogel of Boone, NC; 10 Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister Alberta (Myron) Hamlett of Bedford, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Friday, September 2nd, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Pickenpaugh Officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Carlisle where the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations will conduct military graveside services.
