William "Bill" Lallathin

William H. “Bill” Lallathin, age 80, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 14, 1938 in Harriettsville, Ohio a son of the late James E. and Laura Baker Lallathin. He was a 1956 graduate of the Elk Local High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball and will be remembered for his left-handed shot.

He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ, where he often led singing. He enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Noble County Cruzers.  He was a huge fan of NASCAR and his favorite driver was “The Intimidator”, Dale Earnhardt Sr. He worked for B&N Coal, Southeastern Equipment, Cowgill’s Chevrolet, Caldwell Motors. He also operated the grader for Olive Township for many years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter; 2 sisters Carolyn Williams and Elaine Williams; 2 brothers-in-law Ralph Fleeman and Dale Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Jean E. Dennis Lallathin whom he married December 24, 1957; 3 children Tamara Poling (Barry), Julie and Gary Rossiter, and James Lallathin (Victoria); 6 grandchildren Dawn and Joe Dimick, Brian Poling (Sara), Seth and Megan Rossiter, Matthew Lallathin, Whitney and Gibby Larrick, Megan Lallathin (Eli); 5 great-grandchildren Bradley and Jacob Dimick, Tyler and Cyrus Poling, and Liam Rossiter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation will be observed and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation Monday, October 15, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Main Street Church of Christ, 631 Main Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A memorial service will conclude visitation Monday at 6:00 PM at the Church. A private family inurnment will be held at Salem Township Cemetery, at a later date. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
