Virginia Agnes Brier of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 on her 90th birthday at the Beckett House at New Concord. She was born February 22, 1929 in Fulda, OH a daughter of the late Beda and Marilla Blackstone Schoeppner.
She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. She retired as a nurse from the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. In her retirement she enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed western and mystery themed books.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George Brier, whom she married May 7, 1960 and who passed July 7, 1994; 2 brothers Alfred and James Schoeppner; 2 sisters Eileen Kachilla and Pauline Wickham-Mizik; sisters-in-law Florence Schoeppner, Carole Schoeppner, and Mary Kachovec; brothers-in-law Andrew Kachilla, Ivan Wickham, George Mizik, John Brier, Michael Brier, Andrew Brier, Steve Brier, and Pete Brier.
Those left to cherish her memory are 3 sons Jeffery (Mary) Brier of Woodbridge, VA, Mark (Melissa) Brier of Obetz, OH, and Phillip (Tracy) Brier of Salesville, OH; 3 daughters Teresa (Gary Holtz) Depoy of Alexandria, KY, Susan (Chris) Likes of Westerville, OH, and Phyllis (Matthew) Forshey of Pickerington, OH; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Vera Ruppel and Ann Brier. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with a Vigil Service concluding visitation at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1036 Belford Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Father Wayne Morris serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Cumberland Cemetery.
