Timothy R. “Tim” Moore age 72, of Summerfield, OH passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 afternoon at his home. He was born September 6, 1946 in Caldwell, OH a son of the late Harry T. and Anna Louella Barnes Moore Sr.
He was a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ and the Noble County Genealogy Society. He served and protected his nation in the US Army in the Vietnam War. Master Sergeant Timothy R. Moore retired from the US Army July 31, 1988 following a very distinguished career. He accumulated many awards for his service, the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, just to name a few.
To say that Tim worked to assist local veterans as well as commemorate their memory would be an understatement. He served as the American Legion Post 415 Adjutant for 27 years and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 87 Adjutant for 25 years. He served on the Local Color Guard and attended untold numbers of Veterans funerals for decades. He spent unmeasurable hours with his “Library Girls” doing tedious research to catalog articles concerning local veterans from years past. He was inducted into the Noble County Veteran’s Hall of Fame in 2017 for his many services to the community.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers James Moore, Harry T. (Nancy) Moore Jr., Charles Moore, Thomas D. Moore; sisters Patricia Rubel and Naoma Philpot.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sandra Ellen Harding Moore the love of his life, whom he married Dec. 16, 1967; 2 daughters Beth Creamer of Caldwell, and Laura Miller of Summerfield; 3 grandchildren Riley Miller, Monroe Miller, and Griffyn Miller; brother Terry Moore of Cambridge, OH; sisters-in-law Betty Moore of Barnesville, OH, Linda (Larry) Bennet of Summerfield, Barb Moore of Cambridge. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, May 24, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Jim Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Eastern Cemetery, where Tim for many years researched and cared for the records of the Cemetery. His fellow brothers from the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations will conduct military graveside honors.
