Thelma Ann Schehl age 89, of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Cardinal Place in Cambridge, OH. She was born May 15, 1928 in Noble County, OH a daughter of the late Leo and Dena Hupp Gerst.
She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. She had a true gift for music and could play by ear. She played many instruments including the piano, organ, violin, and guitar. She also enjoyed sewing and shared this craft with many family and friends. For many years, she could be spotted leading tours with the Buckeye Tours. One of her true passions was spending time working in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Schehl, whom she married October 5, 1946 and who passed away January 28, 1983; granddaughter Angela Schehl Gildow; 4 brothers Raymond Gerst, Herman Gerst, Don Gerst, and Raphael Gerst; 3 sisters Bernetta Brahler, Leoba Noll, and Evelyn Rohrig.
Those left to cherish her memory are 1 daughter Jane Schehl of Cambridge; 3 sons Daniel (Mary Lou) Schehl of Caldwell, Jerry (Jeannie) Schehl of Byesville, OH, and Allan (Lauren) Schehl of Caldwell; grandchildren Chris (Shelby) Hager, Yvonne Hager, Steve (Jenny) Schehl, Don (Patty) Schehl, Michael (Christine) Schehl, Matt (Amy) Schehl, Nathan (Carrie) Schehl, Beth (Erik) Porter, Joan (Rob) Sliman, Brian Schehl, Katie Schehl, Bob (Regina) Schehl, and Aaron (Maria) Clark; 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may join the family for Visitation on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Vigil Service held at the conclusion of visitation at 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Father Wayne Morris serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fulda.
