Ruth E. (Nichols) Cain

Ruth E. Cain, age 84 of Caldwell, OH passed away Thursday morning, August 23, 2018 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing & Rehab. She was born August 8, 1934 in Noble County, OH a daughter of the late Harry O. and Lily Elva Lewis Nichols.

Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell. She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, visiting with neighbors, and feeding her birds. She was always so very proud of her Hibiscus plants and enjoyed growing them and showing them off to friends. Ruth could often be seen sitting on her front porch on her swing, one of her favorite things to do.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Fulton A. Cain, whom she married October 24, 1953 and who passed in April of 1997; granddaughter Jamie Vonville; 6 brothers Walter, Kenneth, James, Robert, Roland Richard, and Donald Dale Nichols.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cathy D. (Gen Riffe) Nau of Columbus; grandson Grant Nau of Dublin, OH; granddaughter Leah Nau of New Albany, OH; 4 great-grandchildren Juna, Baylen, Shilah, and Avani; 2 sisters Eileen Miller of Caldwell, OH and Patsy Ann (Guy) Munson of Canton, OH; sister-in-law Connie Nichols of Cambridge, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jay Workman officiating. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment held at a later date in Sharon Cemetery, next to her husband.
